A 4-year PhD fellowship (FPI program) funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e
Innovación from Spain is available. This fellowship is linked to a MICINN
funded project (AGL2009-07006/ACU) entitled “Physiological consequences of
exercise in trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): effects on muscle growth, immune
system and reproduction (SWIMMING TROUT)”. The student will conduct
studies that aim at describing the molecular and cellular effects of swimming
exercise on skeletal muscle growth, the immune response and reproduction in the
rainbow trout. The candidate will join the Molecular Physiology Group at the
School of Biology, University of Barcelona, Spain, a dynamic research group led
by Dr. Josep V. Planas that is currently composed of two postdoctoral researchers
and three PhD students. In order to see the production and research orientation of
Dr. Planas’s laboratory, please search PubMed/Web of Science using “planas jv”
as querry.
The candidate should send a copy of his(her) CV and names and contact
information of a minimum of two references by email (jplanas@ub.edu) by
February 1, 2010. The candidate should have (1) a Master’s degree or be in the
last year of a Master’s program and (2) demonstrable experience in molecular and
cell biology. If selected, the candidate will be able to start in September-October,
2010.
