July – December 2010

Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organization for children. We are 29 national organizations working together to deliver program in more than 120 countries around the world. Our mission is to create lasting, positive change in the lives of children in need. Currently for its Disaster Risk Reduction project in Pariaman, West Sumatra, Save the Children has an internship program for 6 months (1 July – 31 December 2010).

Background

Following an earthquake in West Sumatra on 30 September 2009, Save the Children mounted a large-scale response, and following the response starting from 1 February 2010 Save the Children has a 12-month Disaster Risk Reduction program. The program aims to strengthen community capacity on disaster risk reduction in order to increase resilience and reduce the impact of disasters on children and their communities through behavioral change approach implemented at both the schools and community levels using community-based, child-centered, and child-led approaches.

Requirements

The internship program will need 3 interns with minimum requirements as follow:

· Final-year university students

· Excellent writing and communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia.

· Knowledge of computer application such as MS Word, Excel.

· Proven experience on community engagement activity

· Excellent in social and in interpersonal skills

· Very strong communication skills

Applicants can submit a cover letter, resume and short proposal on selected topic directly to tpanggabean@savechildren.org and mhardjoko@savechildren.org. Please write “Internship program” in the subject of the email. Closing date for application is 10 (ten) days after this announcement, however due to urgent need, applications and proposals will be reviewed on a daily basis, while candidates might be interviewed and position might be filled before the closing date.
