Vacant PhD positions

Employment and Enrolment:
Successful applicants will be employed and enrolled at the IT University for a period of 3 or 4 years. Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).


General information:
A successful applicant will be an excellent student capable of conducting research under supervision from the IT University fs faculty members at the highest international level. The PhD scholarships run for a period of 3- or 4-years depending on the university degree level of the applicant. The following qualifications are required:
  1. 3 year programme: a Master
  2. fs degree equivalent to three years of bachelor level studies plus two years of Master level studies, including final exams. In total: 300 ECTS
  3. 4 year programme: a Bachelor degree plus one year of Master level studies. In total: 180 + 60 ECTS

Transcripts that are not issued by a country of the European Uni0n must be accompanied by a grade key or an explanation of your local grading scale (in English).

  • Cover letter, which must outline which focus area you are applying for (max 1 page)
  • Statement of purpose (max. 5 pages)
  • Documentation of academic degree(s); diplomas, transcripts, etc.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • List of publication(s) are recommended but not mandatory
  • Letters of recommendation and references are recommended but not mandatory

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) was established in 1999 and is the youngest university in Denmark.

Approximately 1,700 students are enrolled in the university. Since the establishment students with more than 100 different bachelor degrees have been admitted.

ITU fs researchers work within six internationally recognized research groups. Most researchers participate in collaborative projects with private companies, public institutions and foreign researchers. ITU is currently working towards becoming a globally interactive university, with faculty, students and staff working in international teams.

ITU has a unique IT focus and expertise and constantly directs its efforts to ensure the quality and relevance of its research and educational programmes. ITU strives to deliver top quality research and education within a wide range of information technology subjects; from design and game development to business and science.

The IT University has research groups that work with identifying and developing innovative communication, computer games, improving IT-design, IT-technologies, and software development. Much of this work is directed towards contributing to a better understanding of work practices and their organizational context. The IT University emphasizes PhD education and is currently expanding its PhD program.
