50 scholarships for Indonesian PhD candidates – deadline 2013

Under the special ‘Dutch channel’ of the DIKTI scholarship programme, 50 scholarships per year are available for Indonesian lecturers who want to pursue their PhD in the Netherlands. The next application deadline is 1 April 2013.
In September 2011 the Indonesian Directorate General for Higher Education (DIKTI) signed an agreement with Nuffic Neso Indonesia in order to set up this Dutch channel, as part of the existing DIKTI PhD scholarship programme for Indonesian lecturers.

How does it work?

To qualify for the Dutch channel the Indonesian PhD candidate has to be nominated by a professor of a Dutch university on the basis of an approved research proposal. All subject areas are accepted. Furthermore, the Dutch university has to guarantee similar coverage of cost of the fourth year of study, such as fees and allowances, as the DIKTI scholarship only covers the first three years.
The scheme only applies for full-time lecturers or candidate lecturers employed at Indonesian state and private universities. After the application deadline of 1 April 2013 DIKTI will do an administrative screening and grant the scholarships. The approved candidates are expected to start their PhD studies in the Netherlands by September 2013.
