Marie-Curie Fellowship for an experienced researcher in Computational Neuroscience, University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara (Italy)

Dear members of eeglablist,
please find below an updated description of the Marie Curie post-doc fellowship open at our Institute within the framework of the ANDREA Project (www.andreaproject.eu).

Marie-Curie Fellowship position for an experienced researcher in Computational Neuroscience at the University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara (Italy)

Applications are invited for a full-time two-year Marie-Curie Fellowship for a post-doctoral scientist position at the BIND - Behavioral Imaging and Neural Dynamics Center, University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara (Italy).

The position is funded by the European project ANDREA - Active Nanocoated DRy-electrode for Eeg Applications (http://www.andreaproject.eu; http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/109927_en.html), whose main objective is to develop a novel dry electrode EEG system with adjustable cap network provided with an automated sensor positioning mechanism, active pre-amplification and a software toolbox for automatic artifacts removal.

Job Description:
This full-time two-year post-doctoral Marie-Curie Fellowship position in computational neuroscience is available at the BIND - Behavioral Imaging and Neural Dynamics Center of the University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara, Italy (http://bindcenter.eu/), and is funded within the framework of the research activities of the European Project ANDREA (http://www.andreaproject.eu; http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/109927_en.html).
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Silvia Comani, Head of the BIND Center and Coordinator of the ANDREA Project (comani@unich.it), and will be responsible for the research, development, applications and transfer of knowledge activities foreseen within the framework of the ANDREA project, whose main goal is to develop a novel dry electrode EEG system with adjustable cap network provided with an automated sensor positioning mechanism, active pre-amplification and a software toolbox for automatic artifacts removal. These novel technologies address the requirements of high EEG signal quality and reliability, mobility, high patient/subject comfort and long-term use, and will be validated in clinical and non-clinical populations to produce a prototype optimized for broad EEG employment.
The selected candidate will mainly contribute to the development, implementation and validation of the software toolbox for the automatic rejection of artifacts from the EEG signals acquired with the new EEG system prototypes, as planned in work packages WP6 and WP8 of the ANDREA Project (http://www.andreaproject.eu/workplan/). The selected candidate will also contribute to the acquisition and analysis of neurophysiological data acquired in multimodal and interdisciplinary studies on the neural correlates of human behavior aiming at validating the novel dry electrode EEG system prototypes developed in the ANDREA project.
The successful candidate will benefit from the interdisciplinary and intersectoral environment of the ANDREA Project, as well as from the state-of-the-art neuroimaging facilities available.

Selection procedure:
An international commission will evaluate the applications. Candidate selection will consist of 2 steps: 1) an evaluation of the CV and research track record of the applicants; 2) an interview (only for those candidates whose CV and research track record have been evaluated sufficient). Further information regarding this position and the application procedures can be obtained by contacting Prof. Silvia Comani (comani@unich.it).

Skills required:
Candidates with an excellent academic record in computational neuroscience (or biomedical engineering, or applied physics, or similar), good programming abilities and a strong background in
human EEG data analysis are welcome to apply. Knowledge of, and/or experience with,

physiological recordings and/or sport and exercise electrophysiology would be a plus. Candidates
must be fluent in spoken and written English, and have good communication and team work skills.

Salary:
The position is funded for two years. Gross yearly salary will be 62.361,00 plus €. 11.832,60 yearly contribution to mobility.

Expected start date:
The selected candidate is expected to start his/her new job in November or December 2015, at the latest in January 2016.

Eligibility criteria:
EU rules for international mobility will apply. Candidates must comply with the eligibility criteria foreseen for this position by the EC: they must have more than 4 and less than 10 years of research experience, and they must have not resided or having carried out study or research activities in Italy for a total of more than 12 months during the 3 years immediately preceding the beginning of this position.
Further information regarding this position and the application procedures can be obtained by contacting Prof. Silvia Comani, Head of the BIND Center and Coordinator of the ANDREA Project (comani@unich.it).

Deadline for application submission:
The deadline for the submission of applications is October 7, 2015. Applications can be submitted via express courier or via certified email. In both cases the date of shipping will be considered valid for
inclusion in or exclusion from the selection procedure.
