PHD-SCHOLARSHIP FOR MASTER IN (BIO-)STATISTICS OR EQUIVALENT


Scholarship for doctoral project : ‘Optimisation of statistical procedures to assess the diagnostic accuracy of cervical cancer screening tests’ (OPSADAC)

You will join the Unit of Cancer Epidemiology (Health Services Research) of the Direction Public Health Surveillance. This unit is specialised in meta-analyses, evaluation of screening and diagnostic tests, and the development of evidence-based guidelines. You will work at the Scientific Institute of Public Health (Brussels).
You will work in the framework of the OPSADAC project and will focus on the application and development of statistical methods for diagnostic tests and meta-analytical pooling. In particular, you will work on multiple testing meta-analysis or network meta-analysis.
The OPSADAC project runs in collaboration with the Center of Statistics at Hasselt University.
You will work in the framework of the OPSADAC project (Optimisation of statistical procedures to assess the diagnostic accuracy of cervical cancer screening tests). Your PhD programme will focus on the application and development of statistical methods for diagnostic tests and meta-analytical pooling (in particular, network meta-analysis or multiple testing meta-analysis). The OPSADAC project will run in collaboration with the Center of Statistics at Hasselt University. You will need to register as a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Sciences Technology at Hasselt University.

A master degree in biostatistics (or equivalent)
Thorough skills in at least one standard statistical package (Stata, R, SAS, winBugs)
Advantage: knowledge of clinical epidemiological methods in particular evaluation of medical test systems
Good knowledge of English is required, knowledge of Netherland or French is an advantage.
General competence: motivated; goal-oriented; organized; precise; capable to work independently and in team.
