PhD Research Positions at the Graduate School for the Humanities (9,0 fte) at University of Groningen



Organisation
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen is committed to providing advanced training at PhD level to the most promising young scholars in Archaeology, Literature and Cultural Studies, and Linguistics. The Graduate School of Humanities offers the organizational infrastructure within which graduate students participate in advanced training and supervised research.

Job Description
The Graduate School for the Humanities offers 9 full time PhD positions in the following fields:
5,0 fte in the field of Literary and Cultural Studies (including History, International Relations and Journalism)
3,0 fte in the field of Linguistics
1,0 fte in the field of Mediterranean Archaeology



Secondary
PhD-positions are for four years on a full-time basis (contract for 18 months, with an extension of 30 months after a positive evaluation). The PhD will follow a tailor made research training programme of 20 ECTS and will write a doctoral dissertation. The successful candidates maybe asked to do some teaching.
The University of Groningen offers a salary with a minimum of € 2042 gross per month for a full-time position in the first year and a maximum of € 2612 in the last year of the appointment.
The appointment starts preferably 1 September 2010.
